We know you love brunch if you’re on this site … but if you also love yoga, you’re in a whole lot of luck! We just recently stumbled upon Yoga + Brunch Club, LI, whose first pop-up event is this weekend.

Essentially, the premise is an outdoor 45-minute easy flow class followed by time to peruse local Long Island vendors that will be set up at the venue, plus brunch at the host location with a complimentary mimosa.

The only equipment you need is your own mat and an open mind.

Their launch event is being held at Salt on the Water in Merrick, and it starts at 9:30 AM sharp with registration beginning 15 minutes prior. Tickets were $42.50 and available here, but you’ll have to wait until next time since they’re already sold out!

But not to fear! They plan to be running events all summer long, but the best way to get their news is via:

You can also email them at yogabrunchclubli@gmail.com for more information.

Lobster Benedict

Brunch Is *BACK* at Honu

… But only for Mother’s Day.

We were so disappointed that Honu discontinued their very excellent summer brunch, and are delighted to see a limited-time appearance email crop up in our inbox announcing that they were doing it again, if only for a day.

The Benedicts we had last time were flawless, so we can imagine their skirt steak rendition will be every bit as good as the Maine lobster ones we flipped over. Crab cakes and avocado as a Benedict also sounds indecently delicious. Braised short rib hash is just a good idea, and who can resist the call of a wild mushroom and honey goat cheese omelet? I mean, really.

Salads are also on offer; a Waldorf chicken with a croissant (genius) and smoked salmon with spinach. And don’t forget, they’ll kindly let you sub veggies for ‘taters if you ask nicely. 😉

Splurge-Worthy Mother’s Day Brunch Buffets

Mother’s Day … one of the most popular–and for restaurants, profitable–brunch dates on the calendar, Long Island provides ample opportunities to get your egg on. Your favorite standbys will no doubt be packed, but not to worry. Instead, take advantage of venues that are usually not open for this meal, or even to the public!

After all, special occasions are only as special as you make them. So why not do something out of the ordinary or typically unavailable?

Today’s list focuses on exactly that, with Mother’s Day-only offerings and grand spreads.

White tablecloths, chocolate fountains, overflowing buffets, and of course, plenty of bubbly promise to accompany the pricey tag on country club openings, but consider it an investment in both breakfast and lunch.

Here’s our index of fancy and not usually available brunch OR a “treat yo’self” buffet for Mother’s Day, May 14, 2017, on Long Island. Continue reading
